Framed Photo of Siraj and Kohli Sparks Netizens’ Appreciation for Their ‘Beautiful Bond’

Cricket enthusiasts were in for a treat when Mohammed Siraj, a player for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), hosted dinner for his team mates, among them, some of the biggest cricketers like Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis. RCB was in Hyderabad as they played Sunrisers Hyderabad in their upcoming match of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday. Siraj made his international debut under Kohli(RCB Twitter)

The franchise shared photos from the dinner, where other RCB players Michael Bracewell, Josh Hazlewood, Kedar Jadhav, and members of the support staff such as head coach Sanjay Bangar can be seen. However, the picture that seemed to have caught the attention of netizens the most was a framed photo of Siraj hugging Kohli while celebrating a wicket. Another frame in the picture showed Siraj and the rest of the Indian team celebrating the famous Border-Gavaskar Trophy victory from 2020/21.

Fans appreciated the relationship between Siraj and Kohli, which goes beyond the game. Siraj credits Kohli for helping him in his early career years at RCB. He also made his international debut under Kohli’s captaincy in a T20I against New Zealand in 2017 in Rajkot.

Siraj played a critical role in India’s 2020/21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy victory, often considered as the series that brought him into the team’s mix of pacers. Even after India’s loss in the first match of the series, Siraj was given the responsibility of leading the pace attack as key players like Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah were sidelined due to an injury. Siraj ended up taking 13 wickets in the series, which was the highest for his team. With the leadership led by vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and missing key players like Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, Bumrah, and Shami, India won the series 2-1, becoming the first team to beat Australia at the Gabba in a Test match in over three decades.
