IPL 2023: CSK Honors Home Crowd with a Lap of Honor Led by Dhoni

After their match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Mahendra Singh Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings in a lap of honor around Chepauk Stadium to thank their devoted home fans on Sunday. Spectators were thrilled to see their favorite player leading the team out, and Sunil Gavaskar couldn’t resist asking the two-time World Cup-winning captain for an autograph.

Known for his racquet-wielding skills, Dhoni took his weapon and hit some balls into the crowd before throwing jerseys their way. He even shook hands with the police officers present and gave out autographs.

However, the game didn’t end up in CSK’s favor, losing by six wickets. Dhoni blamed the dew, which had a significant impact on the match conditions. Dhoni said, “We can’t really blame any of our bowlers. Just that the conditions had a big impact on the game.”

CSK batted first after winning the toss but only managed to score 144 for six. Shivam Dube scored the highest with an unbeaten 48 of 34 balls, while KKR’s Sunil Narine (2/15) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/36) both took two wickets.

KKR faced some trouble in the beginning while chasing the target of 145, but Rinku Singh and skipper Nitish Rana took them to victory with their score of 54 and unbeaten 57, respectively.

Despite the loss, Dhoni was content with the game and said, “Very happy with what Shivam has done, but important think is that he is not satisfied and keeps improving.Nitish Rana, the winning captain, expressed his relief at the outcome and credited the spinners for their excellent performance.
