In the previous matches, Tatum had been on a scoring rampage, delivering impressive performances in Games 1 and 2. However, during Game 3, he struggled to find his rhythm, recording only 14 points on 6-of-18 shooting. Nevertheless, Tatum is not allowing external criticism to impact his mental state.
When asked how he deals with criticism and doubt from outsiders, Tatum emphasized the importance of focusing on the team’s internal chemistry. He agreed that opinions can fluctuate significantly based on game outcomes, but he remains steadfast. Tatum is resolved to prioritize the unity and synergy of his teammates, coaches, and the entire organization.
“It’s certain that after every game you win, you’re the best player and the best team. And when you lose, you’re not the star, and the team isn’t good enough. So I’m sure there’ll be some of that. But out of sight, out of mind. You don’t see it because that’s not what’s important. What’s important is the guys in the locker room, teammates, coaches, and we’re all in this together just trying to figure it out,” Tatum replied, showcasing his unflinching mindset.
Throughout this year’s playoffs, Tatum has been a perpetual force, averaging 27.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game. Despite the sporadic rough patches, Tatum’s contributions have been vital to the Celtics’ success.
