Nuggets sweep Lakers and make it to the NBA Finals for the first time

The Denver Nuggets made history by making it to the NBA Finals for the first time in their franchise, beating the Los Angeles Lakers 113-111 in the fourth game of the series.

After being down by 15 points at halftime, the Nuggets made a great comeback with Nikola Jokic, the NBA Most Valuable Player of the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons, leading the way with 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists, setting a new record for total triple-doubles in a single playoffs with eight. Jamal Murray scored 25 points, and Aaron Gordon added 22 points to secure the win.

The Lakers’ LeBron James put on a great performance gathering 40 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists in an intense game. Anthony Davis scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Los Angeles, while Austin Reaves had 17 points, Dennis Schroder added 13 and Rui Hachimura contributed 10.

With this win, Denver swept the series and will now await the winner of the Eastern Conference finals, in which the Miami Heat have a 3-0 lead over the Boston Celtics.

Game 1 of the NBA Finals is scheduled for June 1, and the Nuggets will face either Miami or Boston. It is worth noting that there has never been a pair of conference-finals sweeps in NBA history.
