PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy Advance, Kidambi Srikanth Eliminated from Badminton Asia Championships

Indian badminton star PV Sindhu, who has won two Olympic medals, progressed to the quarterfinals with a straight-game victory over China’s Han Yue at the Badminton Asia Championships.

HS Prannoy, India’s top-ranked men’s singles player, also advanced to the quarterfinals after a tough match, but Kidambi Srikanth was knocked out by Japan’s Kodai Naraoka. Prannoy now faces Kanta Tsuneyama from Japan. Sindhu will face An Se Young of Korea in the next round.

In mixed doubles, Rohan Kapoor and N Sikki Reddy made it to the quarterfinals after a Korean pair withdrew. However, B Sumeeth Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa lost their mixed doubles match.

Indian men’s doubles pairing Sankireddy and Chirag Shetty proceeded to the quarterfinals with a comfortable win over Jin Yong and Na Sung Seung. They will take on the Indonesian duo of Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan next.
