Shubman Gill made history on Monday by not only scoring his first Indian Premier League (IPL) century but also becoming the first player to score a century in every international format of the game and the IPL in a single calendar year. Playing for Gujarat Titans against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gill smashed 101 runs off just 58 balls, helping Gujarat win the match by 34 runs and securing a spot for the defending champions in the playoffs. This defeat knocked Sunrisers Hyderabad out of contention. Gill kicked off the year in impressive fashion, scoring a double century against New Zealand in Hyderabad, becoming one of the few batsmen to do so in One Day Internationals. He scored 208 runs off 149 balls.

Gill continued his brilliant form by scoring his maiden T20I century against New Zealand, hitting an unbeaten 126 off 99 balls at his favourite ground in Ahmedabad. The 22-year-old from Chandigarh had earlier scored his first Test century in Ahmedabad against Australia in the fourth Test match during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year, scoring 128 runs in the innings.
