Sudirman Cup: India closes out their campaign with a 4-1 win over Australia

India ended their Sudirman Cup mixed team championship campaign with an impressive 4-1 victory over Australia in their final Group C match in Suzhou, China.

Despite being eliminated from the knockout stages of the tournament, India managed to secure a win after suffering defeats against Chinese Taipei and Malaysia earlier in the matches.

India, who were in the “group of death,” had lost 1-4 to Chinese Taipei and 0-5 against Malaysia, two heavyweight teams in the competition.

In their latest match, Sai Pratheek and Tanisha Crasto faced off against Kenneth Zhe Hooi Choo and Gronya Somerville in the mixed doubles match, but they lost in a close encounter with a score of 21-17, 14-21, 18-21. HS Prannoy, the Indian badminton player, evened out the score by winning his match against Jack Yu convincingly in two straight sets, 21-8, 21-8.

In the women’s singles competition, PV Sindhu was replaced by Anupama Upadhyaya, who emerged victorious against Tiffany Ho with a score of 21-16, 21-18.

The men’s doubles match soon followed, with MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila securing an easy win of 21-11, 21-12 against Ricky Tang and Ryane Wang. Lastly, India’s women’s doubles pair of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa finished with a win against Kaitlyn Ea and Angela Yu with a score of 21-19, 21-13, sealing India’s consolation victory.
