WBC President Supports Jermall Charlo Facing Demetrius Andrade Next

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman approves of Jermall Charlo’s decision to fight Demetrius Andrade next without a tune-up after a long layoff. If the fight between Charlo and Andrade does not materialize, Sulaiman suggests a 10-round tune-up match for Charlo before he defends his WBC middleweight title against either Carlos Adames or Jaime Munguia. Sulaiman has heard Oscar De La Hoya’s complaints about his fighter Munguia not getting a chance to fight for the title, but Sulaiman supports Charlo, who has had to deal with injury and mental health issues during his time away from the sport.

Despite the risks of facing Andrade without a tune-up, Charlo is willing to take the chance. Andrade’s skills have deteriorated significantly over the years due to his inactivity and fighting weak opposition. Although Andrade won his last bout against Demond Nicholson, he was hit hard several times, and his performance left a lot to be desired. It is highly likely that Charlo, even a rusty version of him, will have too much firepower for Andrade at this point in his career.

Sulaiman is keen for Charlo to defend his title and unify it against either Adames or Munguia. He will do his best to ensure the fight between Charlo and Munguia takes place if both fighters want it. Sulaiman is willing to approve of the fight without a doubt.
