Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the ace Indian men’s doubles badminton pairing, have qualified for the Badminton Asia Championships men’s doubles final. They will compete against the Malaysian team of Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi in Dubai on Sunday, in hopes of earning a historic title for their country.

The Indian duo has performed well throughout the tournament, winning all their previous matches in straight games (except for the semifinals, in which they were given the win after the opposition retired). They beat the Malaysian team of Tan Kian Meng and Tan Wee Kiong 21-14, 21-17 in their opening match. They then defeated the South Korean unit of Jin Yong and Na Sung Seung with a score of 21-13, 21-11 in the round of 16.
In the quarterfinals, they managed to brush aside Indonesians Mohammed Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan with a score of 21-11, 21-12. In the semifinals, Chirag and Satwiksairaj started well and earned a 21-18 win in the first game, paving the way for them to win after the Taiwanese pair of Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin retired in the second game.
