Boxer Mohammad Hussamuddin Trained at a Graveyard

Soft-spoken and hailing from a family of pugilists, Mohammad Hussamuddin won a bronze in his debut world championships. His father, Mohammad Shamsamuddin, was a national-level boxer, and his three other brothers are also renowned boxers.

In a recent interaction with TOI, Hussamuddin mentioned his grandfather’s graveyard, wherein his father trained them in the basic nuances of boxing. Although apprehensive initially, Hussamuddin gradually started developing his interest in the sport and eventually became a champion.

Despite being good at gymnastics, he gravitated towards boxing upon his father’s insistence and subsequently went on to represent India in several world championships.
