Sonal Patil, the third seed and champion of the last women’s tennis tournament, had a tough time in the quarterfinals at the Joygaon Academy in Jhajjar. She was pushed to three sets by fifth seed Rachita Talwar but eventually won the match 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
She will now face top seed Sahira Singh in the semifinals. Sahira breezed past Shefali Arora, losing only five games. The other semifinal will be held between Divya Bhardwaj and Kashish Bhatia, who are seeded second.
