Arsenal’s Ben White was approached by England boss Gareth Southgate after the defender left the England camp on November 30, following their win over Wales in the World Cup group stages.
Several messages of support were sent to White by his club and teammates, while Southgate refused to comment further on the decision to let him leave Qatar.
When asked to provide more details on the situation, Southgate said, “Well, not really. What I’ve been shown was alleged, and there was another word that was used.
I think by commenting on the story, I could be giving it any form of credibility, really. We explained why Ben left the camp, and I think it’s important that that is respected, really.”
