Ashwin questions Krunal’s injury retirement as LSG scores 177 against MI in IPL match

On Tuesday, during an IPL 2023 match between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Marcus Stoinis played an incredible knock of unbeaten 89 off 47, and LSG eventually scored an impressive 177 for three in 20 overs, mainly owing to him.

LSG had a rocky start with Deepak Hooda and Prerak Mankad out early on to Jason Behrendorff. Piyush Chawla later took Michel’s Quinton de Kock wicket for 16. Krunal Pandya’s partnership with Marcus Stoinis of 82 revived the game, which is the highest in IPL 2023 in Lucknow.

While batting on 49 runs, Krunal left the field because of his injury. Nicholas Pooran replaced him after he left. Some on social media raised doubts about his retirement and called it a tactical move. R Ashwin was one of them, hinting at it being a retired out.

Stoinis scored 40 runs in 16 balls in the last four overs as LSG managed to finish at 177 for three. Krunal started proceedings with the ball during MI’s chase of the score of 178.
