NEW DELHI: Former Liverpool midfielder Don Hutchison spoke on the possibility of Lionel Messi returning to La Liga. Messi is set to leave Paris Saint Germain (PSG) this summer because his contract is about to expire. Hutchison thinks it would be fascinating to see Messi back at Barcelona, where he played before he moved to PSG. Messi won four Champions League titles and 10 La Liga titles at Barcelona.
Hutchison believes that Manchester City will win the UCL because of the form they are in. They are currently at the top of the EPL and have amazing players like Grealish and Haaland. Hutchison thinks all the players for Man City are playing at the top of their game. He thinks it will be 60-40 in Man City’s favour.
When asked which team disappointed him the most, Hutchison replied that Liverpool was the most disappointing. The favourites are still in the competition. Man City and Real Madrid were the two favourites from matchday one.
In Hutchison’s opinion, no one can ever win the Messi vs Ronaldo debate. He thinks it is a nonsensical argument in the first place. Hutchison loves watching Ronaldo and Messi and thinks they are both incredible. They have both been examples for lots and lots of millions of young players over the 15 years they have been at the top of their game, who try to emulate and watch them play.
Klopp wants his teams to play fast and furious with emotion, which is evident in Liverpool’s playing style. City, on the other hand, rely on tactics a little more. They can play a slower style of football that can dominate the ball, and no one can get near them. When the fast and furious tactic comes up against the quality of Man City, it’s always an interesting dynamic who’s going to come out on top.
It would be pretty amazing if Messi goes back to Barcelona, and Ronaldo goes back to Real Madrid. Messi going back to Barcelona makes more sense, but it would be fascinating either way because they are both giants and heavyweights of world football.
