LSG retained Marcus Stonis for ₹10 crore ahead of the current season of IPL, which was a clear indication of how the talented Australian was rated by the team management. The all-rounder added yet another unbeaten half-century to his batting prowess on Tuesday. His innings of 89 off just 47 balls, including eight boundaries and eight sixes, helped LSG post a challenging total of 177/3 after being asked to bat first.

MI began their chase of 178 on a good note with openers Ishan Kishan and skipper Rohit Sharma setting the tone. However, they succumbed to some excellent bowling by Ravi Bishnoi and lost quick wickets. Surya Kumar Yadav also lost his wicket cheaply after scoring just seven runs. Some fantastic fielding and catching by LSG fielders helped the team snatch victory against the odds.

MI needed 11 runs in the final over to win the game, but they could only manage five. Tim David scored 32* off 19 balls, while Cameron Green scored 6* off 4 balls, as Mohsin Khan closed things out in a fine manner. MI finished at 172/4 in 20 overs.

The win took LSG’s points tally to 15 with one last match left against Kolkata Knight Riders. On the other hand, MI, who are already through to the playoffs, would look to come back stronger in the coming games.
