Juventus is facing legal trouble as the Italian football federation has charged the club and seven ex-team directors with fraud regarding player salary cuts during the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the beginning of the pandemic, Juventus stated that 23 players had agreed to a four-month salary cut to support the club during the crisis; however, prosecutors say that the players only gave up one month’s salary.

Former Juventus president Andrea Agnelli, ex-vice president Pavel Nedved, and former sports director Fabio Paratici are some of the people who have been charged.

The club had already received a 15-point penalty from the federation this season for falsifying accounts, which will now lead to another sports trial.

While Juventus’ appeal against the 15-point penalty was upheld, prosecutors in Turin have also charged the club, Agnelli, and 11 others with company listed false communications on the Milan stock exchange, hindering watchdog agencies, false billing, and market manipulation.

On Thursday, Sevilla eliminated Juventus from the Europa League semifinals, resulting in no titles for the club this season.
