GOLF

Aditi Ashok, an Indian golfer, played superbly in the Aramco Team Series, ending with a 3-under 69 to clinch a T-15 spot. Initially, she was at T-39 after the first two rounds. Aditi, with just four events under her sleeve, of which she won one, is currently at the top of the Ladies European Tour rankings – the Race to Costa Del Sol. India’s women stars, Diksha Dagar and Amandeep Drall, finished at T-38th, with 74 each. Vani Kapoor couldn’t make the cut.

Klara Davidson Spilkova of the Czech Republic clinched second place with her round of 74 (+2) in Florida. Lydia Ko, the current world number three, and Olivia Cowan produced the joint-best rounds of the day, finishing even par and sharing third place. Although one off the lead at the beginning of the final round, Spain’s Carlota Ciganda won the individual title.

Nishtha Madan and Pranavi Urs missed the IOA Golf Classic cut while Jenny Coleman emerged victorious. In the men’s section, after many delays due to unplayable weather, five shooters led on 74 after the second round, with the shootout scheduled after two more rounds on the next day.

SHOOTING

India’s Darshna Rathore finished third in women’s skeet after three rounds in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Ganemat Ssekhon and Maheshwari Chauhan placed 10th and 18th, respectively, in the field of 35 shooters. An interruption in the last round affected Mairaj Ahmad Khan, who shot 23 and 25 in the first two rounds.

TENNIS

Neev Kothari of Maharashtra beat Gujarat’s Kabir Chothani 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, and became the lucky loser in the DY Patil National sub-junior tennis championship organised by MSLTA held at the KDLTA Complex on Monday.

G. Sathiyan and Sharath Kamal progressed to the pre-quarterfinals of the WTT World table tennis championships in Durban by defeating Brazilian duo Eric Jouti and Luca Kumahara. Ying Han dispatched of Sreeja Akula in a second-round match.

India’s men’s doubles pair defeated Hungary’s Anders Lind and Bence Majoros 11-5, 11-4, 15-13 to secure a pre-quarterfinal spot at WTT World table tennis championships.
