Shawn Porter Urges Devin Haney to Face Shakur Stevenson Before Moving up to 140

Former WBC welterweight champion, Shawn Porter, has emphasized that Devin Haney should face Shakur Stevenson before moving up to 140. Porter suggests that Haney should remain at 135 for a little longer to prepare for the fight. Shakur Stevenson, the present #1 WBC, is worth facing before Haney begins campaigning at the light welterweight division.

Despite Porter’s recommendation, Haney, with a record of 30-0 and 15 KOs, does not appear interested in the fight. After Shakur entered the ring last Saturday night and challenged him, Haney quickly dashed out. In other words, Haney appeared unwilling to face Shakur in the future. Porter was disappointed by Haney’s move, which he likened to exposing his flank to the enemy gunfire.

Top Rank promoter, Bob Arum, would be thrilled to see Haney fight Shakur. Arum was allowed to enter the ring after the Haney-Lomachenko fight last Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. However, Haney cannot be forced to fight Shakur if he doubts his chances of winning.

Porter believes that fighting Shakur would be worthwhile because the winner would earn the big fights and, of course, the money. A fight between Haney and Shakur would be incredible, according to Porter. Haney can remain undefeated and still make a lot of money if he stays at 135 and fights Shakur. Haney aims to be the best, and beating Stevenson would help him attain his goal.
