The Philadelphia 76ers interviewed Frank Vogel for their vacant head coaching position, according to John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia.
Vogel emerged as a top candidate for recent head coaching vacancies on several teams. Although he was included in the Milwaukee Bucks’ search for a new head coach, he did not make the final cut.
Known for his defensive strategy, Vogel notably led the Los Angeles Lakers to an NBA Championship in the 2019-20 season. However, the next two seasons were a difficult experience for both Vogel and the Lakers, which ultimately led to the departure of the 49-year-old head coach.
With a .526 win percentage as a head coach (431-389), Vogel has also coached the Indiana Pacers (2010-2016) and the Orlando Magic (2016-2018). Prior to his current role as a head coach, he spent nine years as an assistant coach.
The 76ers are still in the process of finding a replacement for former head coach Doc Rivers, as the team has underperformed in the postseason for three consecutive years under his watch.
