Boxer Gervonta Davis’ Domestic Battery Charge Dropped by Florida Prosecutors

Gervonta Davis, the unbeaten superstar boxer, has been cleared of a domestic battery charge after the female who reported it decided not to prosecute him. Florida prosecutors have therefore dropped the case.

The Baltimore native, mostly promoted by Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s company, can now focus on his career without worrying about going to jail. He recently defeated Ryan Garcia with a seventh-round knockout on April 22nd on DAZN and Showtime PPV.

Last year, he was arrested following a report from a female that she had been slapped on the head at his mansion, causing an injury to her lip.

Devin Haney, the undisputed lightweight champion, listed Gervonta Davis amongst the names of the boxers he wants to fight, but Gervonta’s long-time coach doesn’t believe that Haney wants to fight him. Rather, he thinks Haney will move up to the 140-lb division.

The Gervonta-Haney fight’s viability will depend on the PPV numbers for Haney’s recent fight with Vasily Lomachenko. According to Gervonta’s coach, if numbers from Haney-Lomachenko event turn out to be impressive, it may make sense for Gervonta and Haney to fight.
