Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team Draws 4-4 Against South Africa A

The Indian junior women’s hockey team fought back to hold South Africa A to a 4-4 draw and maintain their unbeaten record on their tour of South Africa.

This was the first game of the tour against South Africa A for the Indian team, having won all three matches against South Africa’s U-21 team previously.

The ongoing South Africa tour is part of the Indian team’s preparation for the Asia Cup U-21, which is a qualifier for the upcoming FIH Women’s Junior World Cup.

The match initially saw Quanita Bobbs (1′, 31′) and Biamca Wood (6′) score for South Africa A, but quick responses from Neelam (7′) and Deepika Sr. (8′, 30+’) drew the Indian team level. Taranpreet Kaur (25′) and Deepika then scored to put the Indian team in a commanding position.

In the second half, South Africa A came back strong with goals from Quanita Bobbs and Tarryn Lombard, resulting in a 4-4 draw.

The Indian team is set to face off against South Africa A again on Saturday.
